Dangerous Goods by Sea
HP Training & Consultancy has developed a training program that meets the requirements of the IMDG Code. At the end of the course candidates will be able to use, interpret and implement all the requirements of the IMDG for the safe transport of dangerous goods by sea. The course concludes with a written examination which entitles successful candidates to a certificate of competence.
Shore based personnel such as those who: classify dangerous goods; pack dangerous goods into packages; mark, label or placard dangerous goods; pack/unpack CTU's; prepare transport documents for dangerous goods; offer dangerous goods for transport; accept dangerous goods for transport; handle dangerous goods in transport; or are otherwise involved in the transport of dangerous goods should attend this course.
Amendment 34-08 states that training for shore-side staff involved with dangerous goods is mandatory instead of just recommended and may be audited by the competent authority. Persons not yet trained may only operate under the direct supervision of a trained person.
See IMDG Code 1.3.1.1.
